The machines murmur in the shadows now. A low rhythmic hum, a glow from beyond, a coil of filament snaking through the air like a summoned tendril. They do not sleep. Neither do we.

In the cold expanse of the unfeeling cosmos, we find ourselves at the commencement of another sun cycle. Within these enigmatic pages, I, your humble archivist, relay the most peculiar and mind-bending updates from the realms of Dark One Games and the larger universe of board game lore. Prepare your minds for the most uncanny revelations.

While Others Tanned, We Played

Summer may be about beach trips and barbecue for some, but for us, it was about diving into games. Let’s talk about Vantage, the new hotness from Stonemaier Games, and it delivered.

An open-world, cooperative game where players crash land alone on an alien world. Vantage lets you explore as you will. No maps, no railroading, just an enormous stack of beautifully written interactions that ripple across the game, and a deep sense of narrative freedom.

Every session is its own story; no campaigns here. Sometimes tragic. Sometimes triumphant. Sometimes you fall into a glowing pit while trying to pet a space creature. (We don’t want to talk about it.)

We’ve explored the ruins, made strange friends, barely survived, and immediately wanted to go again. If you crave discovery, enjoy a choose your own adventure, and a game that respects your weirdest decisions, this one belongs on your table.

Summoning Cthulhu: A Shape in the Fog

Design continues on our cooperative cultist card game, Summoning Cthulhu.

The mechanics are solidifying: dice-rolling for resources, disruption from investigators and a meddling mystic, and a rising tempo as players work together to complete the summoning ritual before it's torn apart. We’ve made recent strides in tightening the disruption phase and adding more meaningful card synergies.

We’re not ready to open the gates just yet, but the stars are aligning.

Bambu X1-C Now Prints in Madness

We’ve upgraded our Bambu X1‑C with multi-color printing, and the results are, honestly, a little disturbing. The tools are here. The plastic is warm. The ideas are strangely alive.

Expect:

• More vivid game prototypes

• Multi-color miniatures with entirely too many limbs

• Limited edition curios and accessories we’ll pretend are “merch” but may be cursed

Whispers From Beyond The Ethos

You may have noticed a lull in communications. A soft silence. The eerie kind of pause that happens right before the ritual fails and everyone forgets how their knees work.

Rest assured, it wasn’t intentional. We were simply building a greenhouse.

This was not a casual weekend project. This was a full-scale, sunbaked, spiritually questionable construction effort brought on by the plants in our yard growing sentient and watching us when we slept. So, naturally, we responded with lumber and panic.

Unfortunately, our work did not go undocumented. Enter Frodo & Pad Thai, our in-house “news team”, who took it upon themselves to cover the event live, all day, every day, from May through well now, stupid rain, 17 straight weekends, just saying.

Frodo, investigative correspondent, spent most of his time barking at shadows, circling unfinished walls, and loudly accusing us of improper bracket spacing.

Pad Thai, lead anchor and suspected chaos entity, delivered hard-hitting coverage by sitting directly on the power tools, eating sawdust, and giving unnerving eye contact from atop the compost pile.

They titled their exposé: “Nailed It: A Deep Look into Structural Incompetence and Horticultural Terror”. It was nominated for three Barkleys and one Pawlitzer.

Between dodging their field reports and convincing the plants to chill, things got… delayed. But we’re back now. The greenhouse is mostly complete, the dogs have returned to their roles as Night Bark Analysts, and we’re once again focused on cardboard-based cosmic horror instead of sun-scorched carpentry.

Thank you for your patience, your sanity, and your tolerance for sentient heirloom tomatoes and spicy datil peppers.
